Maintained by the Department of Heritage, Telangana, the District Heritage Museum in Panagal was established in the year 1982 near the Pachala Someswara Swamy Temple.
Spread over an area of three acres the museum has a sizeable collection of sculptures, prehistoric tools, coins, bronzes, beads, arms and weapons, and copper plate inscriptions. Though Panagal itself is a site where the Kakatiya rulers set up temples dedicated to Shiva, the museum also has ancient Shiva Lingas, relocated from Yeleswaram. Apart from Yeleswaram, artefacts also come from excavation projects conducted in Vardamana Kota and Phanigiri. Statues and sculptures of gods and goddesses from the Hindu pantheon dating back to the Ishvaku dynasty (1st century AD) are preserved in the museum too.
