Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, has immense cultural and historical significance and offers a glimpse of different cultures and heritage. Of these, the Mahant Ghasidas Memorial Museum is a shining example. Located in the heart of the city, Mahant Ghasidas Memorial Museum is a major cultural and educational centre of public interest. In 1875, this museum was established in Raipur city by the king Mahant Ghasidas of the Rajnandgaon principality and is one of India’s 10 oldest museums. The museum was made with the valuable contribution of Queen Jyoty Devi Rajnandgaon and was inaugurated by India’s first president Dr. Rajendra Prasad in 1953.
In this walk, we will focus on Chhattisgarh’s art, iconography and tribal culture. The walk will be a guided experience for people to know about anthropology, ancient Indian history, culture and archaeology.
