Briefly describe the history of the museum, its collection and donors.
The Children’s Museum opened in 2011 on land that was given to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) by the Delhi Development Authority in 2003. The sculptures that are displayed were made by students of the College of Arts and Crafts, Patna, under the direction of K.K. Mohammad, the erstwhile superintendent archaeologist of ASI's Delhi wing. In 2008, K.K. Mohammad and the National Museum drew up conceptual plans for the museum, and it was decided that around 100 replicas would be made of sculptures of importance from across Asia. Due to the paucity of funds, only 30 have been completed so far. At present, the museum houses replicas of some incredible sculptures, including the Fasting Buddha of Lahore and a shalabhanjika from Madhya Pradesh. There is no library or conservation lab on the site itself, but a restroom and drinking-water facilities are available on the premises. Control of the museum will soon be transferred to the Delhi Art Gallery.

As not many people are aware of the museum, it is never crowded and can be visited at any time of the day.
Interesting things about the Museum
1. The museum also has a segment that demonstrates how and why monuments degenerate as well as how we can prevent this from happening
2. It houses a replica of the famous sculpture ‘Arjun’s Penance’ from Mahabalipuram, which is a must see
3. The replicas were all made by college students who had never seen the original sculptures; they were based on photographs alone
