Briefly describe the history of the museum, its collection and donors.
The Sikkim Science Centre located in Marchak, Gangtok, is a one-of-its-kind establishment in the state. The centre was set up with the idea to develop a scientific temperament and promote creative learning among people. The centre conveys detailed information about science and technology in an informal way. It houses some interesting galleries such as the Unique Humankind gallery, Taramandal, Fun Science gallery, Gallery for Students' Activities and the science park.
While the Taramandal is a planetarium, the Unique Humankind gallery holds exhibits that educate about the functioning of human life and body. In the Fun gallery, science meets objects of recreation; and the Children’s Corner has puzzles and activities for young science enthusiasts. The museum’s Students’ Activities Corner organises seminars, camps and fairs, and the Science Park is a garden decorated with various objects that keep the visitors occupied.
