Description

Apart from material collections that they exhibit, museums also tell us stories of the people associated with them. The Aga Khan Palace of Pune, which was built in the 19th century, is one such place that has been inextricably linked with the history of the city and the Indian freedom struggle. The palace is known for its peculiar architecture, museum galleries dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi’s life and work, and a memorial dedicated to Kasturba Gandhi.

On the occasion of World Museum Day, let us gather to explore this part of the city and understand its unique relation with Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. The palace has a long-standing history--starting from the intended purpose of its construction, to it being a monument with museums and memorials under the Gandhi Smarak Samiti. Join us on this heritage trail to delve into all this, and learn more about the city of Pune.

This guided tour is free.
