We start the National Museum walk chronologically with sculptures and medallions from the galleries of Indus Valley, Kushana, Shunga, Satvahana, Gandhara, and Mathura art, then take a detour through the Bronze Sculpture gallery as we move on to discuss the sculptures of the Gupta and the high Medieval Period.
Now, before getting too deep into discussions about the yogini and Buddhist sculptures we cross over to the Painting Collection at the National Museum, where we will see pichwais, miniature paintings, and Thanjavur paintings.
We end the walk with a visit to the much awaited ‘India & the World – A History in Nine Stories’ exhibition that is organised in partnership by National Museum, British Museum and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS), Mumbai.
