The City Palace in Jaipur was built between 1729 and 1732 under the reign of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II and later additions were made to the palace complex till the 20th century by his successors of the Kachwaha Rajput clan. The palace is the residence of the royal family of Jaipur, a centre of patronage of arts and learning, an important place for worship and houses a museum that displays Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum's collection.
