Briefly describe the history of the museum, its collection and donors.
The cultural museum is a presentation of Kerala’s rich dance and cultural history in visual form. A brief history of each dance form along with a sculpture of the dancer adorned with make up is shown in the display. The museum also has a miniature Kerala Village representative of the pre 1930s period, old artifacts and articles of daily use, original representations of the water wheel and different types farmers’ village hats made of palmyra. A large area of the museum showcases dying arts like pottery making and handloom weaving.
Highlight: Life – Size Churlan Vallam, a traditional long country boat used for boat races.
